Marnie finally encourages her mother, Carole, to talk about her life between 1938, when she immigrated from NAZI Germany, until 1948 when she was able to find her Mother and Sister and bring them to New York. Carole is elderly and her memory is failing. However the tales of her past are so vivid they come to life before us. Both women want the stories bestowed. For Marnie, this part of her Mother’s life is what now intrigues her. She must reap these stories now. Carole also knows her life is diminishing and her legacy is to be secured.
