PHOTOS from Peru, 2015

5 MF (2)Here are my pictures from Peru in April 2015. I was there for 2 weeks, following on 3 wonderful weeks in Ecuador. I spent a week in Cusco-a wonderful city and home base for visiting Inca and Pre-Inca archeological sites like Sacsayhuaman, Tambo Machay, Pikillacta, Tipon, Pisac, Ollantaytambo and ultimately Machu Picchu. Then I headed down to Lake Titicaca (sometimes called the highest navigable lake in the world at 12,500 feet.) From Puno I headed to the floating islands for a glimpse, Amantani for a hike and homestay over night, and Taquile for a hike to our beautiful lunch spot. After a stop the next day at some interesting funerary columns I travelled to Arequipa–the second largest city in Peru, with it’s interesting colonial buildings and access to the Colca Canyon. Then on to Lima, where I crammed everything I wanted to do into a well-planned day at the Larco museum and Huaca Pucllana pyramid in the suburb of Miraflores, followed by people and building watching in the Plaza de Armas.
